SAIC (10 Jan)

You are responsible for securing letters of recommendation from persons who are qualified to write about your potential for success at SAIC. If you are currently a student or are a recent graduate, we recommend you request letters of recommendation from current or former instructors.

Letters of recommendation should be submitted electronically via SAIC's ePortfolio. When completing the References section in your ePortfolio, you will be asked to provide the names and other information associated with each of your references. Once you click "send request," an email will be sent to each of your references with instructions on how to submit their recommendations thorugh the ePortfolio. If your recommenders prefer, they may submit recommendations by mail. Be sure to supply your recommenders with addressed, stamped envelopes and ask them to sign across the seal.

RISD (10 Jan)
Applicants should arrange to have three letters of recommendation written by professors, instructors or professionals with whom you have recently worked or studied. These letters are required. We strongly suggest that your recommenders use our recommendation form (pdf). Recommenders may also use their own stationery, but it is critical that they include your full name in their letter. Recommendations should be sent by the writer directly to the Admissions Office in time to meet the January 10 deadline.

SVA (15 Jan)

Applicants to all programs (except MFA Design for Social Innovation) are required to submit three letters of recommendation from instructors or practicing professionals. Online submission is now available through the online application. Applicants will be required to provide the e-mail address and full contact information of their references. Letters can also be mailed or delivered with all other supplementary application materials. Recommenders should indicate the applicant’s full name and department of interest in the beginning of the letter as well as on the outside of the envelope. Each envelope must be sealed and signed by the recommender in order to be considered official. Note: The School of Visual Arts does not provide letter of recommendation forms.

PRATT (5 Jan)

Two letters of recommendation from employers, professors, or others able to judge your potential for graduate study in the specific program. If you have not already requested your references online at Interfolio, we strongly prefer that you request them online at Slideroom at https://pratt.slideroom.com.  You may supply your references with copies of the reference form online , though they may write letters if they prefer; they should not send both. The pdf version of the letter of recommendation form can be downloaded at link above.
